Norm’s Door Service, a name that’s been trusted since 1963 for door, dock, and gate system services
Norm Kerr, the company’s founder, started his trade and business way back in 1963 with one guiding principle in mind:
Provide great garage door services, overhead door, security gate, and loading dock services at a fair price. With his reputation as his only asset, Norm treated his customers like neighbors and friends, striving to create the customer and business relationships that, today, make his namesake one of the region’s most respected small businesses.
After nearly four decades of business leadership, Norm turned the reins of the company over to his daughter, Ruth Smith. In 2006, Ruth and her husband, Jim Smith, became owners of Norm’s Door Service and Ruth assumed the role of the company’s President and General Manager.
Ruth, like her Dad, has a passion for what she does and believes in the same principles that made Norm’s Door Service the area’s most reputable Door, Dock and Gate business. Going forward Norm’s will be bringing their expertise to automatic doors and entry door systems, which includes:
- Revolving doors
- Handicap assist doors
- Motion detector or sliding doors
- Regular push or pull doors
Norm’s goes much deeper than just providing garage door services. They’ve been recognized by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce as small business of the month and awarded 1st-place Best of Omaha for “Best Garage Doors” for the last 7 years:
… as well as 5-time recipient of the Angie’s List Super Service Award, an honor given only to the top companies rated on Angie’s List.
But beyond recognitions for their company, owners Ruth and Jim believe they and their business have both an obligation and opportunity to be active participants in their community and industry. If you look around the company’s showroom and offices, you will see examples of the owners participation in their community, be it Norm’s sponsorship of the Ralston Girl’s Softball League or from Norm’s sponsorship of a child’s wish through the Nebraska Make-A-Wish Foundation.
But the level of participation goes much farther.
Ruth and Jim give of their own time to promote and help the communities served by Norm’s Door Service, whether it’s Ruth’s service on the board of directors of the Greater Omaha Chapter of the National Safety Council or Jim’s service in the State of Nebraska Legislature.
Norm’s employees also donate their time with consideration of others that are less fortunate. These employees routinely volunteer their time to organizations such as Rebuilding Together Omaha and Habitat for Humanity. Providing great garage door services has always been, and always be the foundation of Norm’s.
Whether you are in need of door, dock, gate, entry door systems, or automatic door services; residential and business, we would love to serve you!
