Trust Us With Your Fire Rated Doors
Fire rated doors or fire protection doors are required in certain parts of commercials buildings. This is part of a passive fire protection system aimed at saving lives. Norm’s Doors has a team of installers trained to install fire doors at all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards as well as codes and standards outlined in the International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC).
Fire resistance doors required for buildings will vary based on the various types of firewalls and partitions in each building as well as local building and fire codes. For new construction, your builder will know what is needed and we will work with them to ensure proper installation.
All fire rated doors are pre-fabricated at the factory and installed to prevent or slow the spread of fire and smoke between areas of the building.
These fire doors are built to withstand a few hours of fire in order for people to evacuate. No fire door is manufactured to be completely fire resistant. Fire rated doors are measured based on the amount of time the door can keep the fire from spreading to the next location.
The fire resistant door will usually have three-quarters of the rating of the surrounding wall; a wall that is rated for two-hours of fire protection will have a fire protection door rated for 90 minutes. All fire rated doors will have ratings labels attached and visible, by law.
Our team is well trained in door and frame requirements for fire rated doors. We will work with you whether it’s new building construction or replacement fire doors and determine which materials will work best and which will match the existing plans.
